When a veteran passes, it is RSL Queensland’s privilege to honour them and support their families. We offer moving Poppy Services, assistance with funerals and memorials, and support for loved ones
We consider it an honour to pay our final respects to those who served.
As part of a veteran’s funeral, many RSL Sub Branches can provide a Poppy Service – a moving tribute to farewell the veteran and recognise their service.
As part of a Poppy Service, an RSL representative will:
No veteran should make their final journey alone. For veterans who have no known relatives, we can arrange a dignified funeral service attended by RSL Sub Branch or RSL District representatives.
We consider it our privilege and our obligation to ensure those who served are farewelled with respect, and their service is appropriately recognised.
Losing a loved one is never easy, but you don’t have to go through this time alone.
In some cases, RSL Queensland can help veteran families in need by providing emergency financial assistance, and advice on compensation and entitlements.
In some cases, we may also refer you to Legacy, which is committed to supporting families through bereavement.

How do I request a Poppy Service?
Poppy Services are conducted by our Sub Branch volunteers. To request one, please contact your late loved one’s Sub Branch (if they were an RSL member) or the Sub Branch nearest to you.
